Guildford Home Choice

Step 2 - Choosing

Advertising properties

Properties available for rent and available to purchase through shared ownership are advertised each week. See below for more details. They are advertised in the following ways:

  • via property search on this website
  • by telephoning our advertising hotline on 01483 444461
  • in a newsletter available from the Housing Advice Centre and Guildford and Ash C.A.B's
  • on display boards in the Housing Advice Centre, Social Services, Guildford and Ash C.A.B's, local hostels, Leapale Lane Drop in Centre and GAF family support centre. Other locations may be added in the future.

The adverts tell you the landlord, location, size, rent and other features of the property to help you decide which properties are right for you.

Where available a photograph of the property or a similar house type is provided and you can access information about the local area and facilities.

The advert also tells you if there are any special requirements that the applicant must meet, such as age requirements and which band will be given priority for the property. If you are not in the band stated you may still apply for the property providing it is suitable for your family size.

A range of symbols are used to tell you about the property.

Expressing your interest in a property

To apply for a property you must tell us that you wish to be considered for it. You may only apply for a property that is suitable for your family size. Click Step one-Registration for the maximum number of bedrooms that you are entitled to. In some circumstances it may be possible to apply for a smaller property than you are entitled to as long as this does not result in overcrowding.
You can express your interest or bid, as it is also known, in one of the following ways:

  • online through our website. Login using your housing application number and the date of birth of the main applicant
  • by telephoning our  24hr automated bidding line on 0845 602 4955
  • by texting 0778 148 6687
  • by using our kiosk in the Housing Advice Centre. Our staff will be happy to show you how to do this.

Properties available to rent are advertised from midnight on a Wednesday to midnight Sunday each week.

You will be able to bid for a maximum of three properties during the time they are advertised. Bids will not be accepted after midnight on a Sunday. Some properties, particularly new build may be advertised well in advance of them becoming available. You will be told about this in the advert. You will only be able to bid for a property that is suitable for your household size.
